Deeper Mindfulness is an exciting new 8-week Mindfulness program developed by Mark Williams, co-developer of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and his colleagues at the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation, and built on the latest advances in neuroscience.

The Deeper Mindfulness program is designed for those who have already completed a mindfulness-based program and wish to explore mindfulness more deeply and expand their mindfulness skills. 

Recent psychological findings reveal that in every waking moment, our understanding of the world is dominated by imagining how we can take action within it, coloured by what is called ‘Feeling Tone’.

As we move through our days and our lives, our mind automatically ‘reads’ our moment-by-moment experiences, and their accompanying sensations, thoughts and emotions, as pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral. And then, based on the Feeling Tone, our minds predict what will happen next.

Feeling Tone is the “tipping point” in your mind that literally “sets the tone” for the thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and the real or imagined actions that will follow. 

In Deeper Mindfulness, we learn to pay attention to the moment-by-moment rise and fall in our feeling tones.

Through practice, we learn to press our own “reset button” before tipping over into reactivity and to compassionately redirect our minds towards resilience and growth.

Anyone who has previously taken an 8-week mindfulness program (MBCT, MBSR, or MSC).

Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner looking to refine your skills or someone who wants to cultivate a more profound connection with yourself and the world around you, this program offers valuable insights and practices to support your journey.

Participants Will Gain the Following:

  •   “Finding your ground” or finding a stable anchor for attention
  •   Taking a pause when your mind wanders, and cultivating a sense of kindness and gratitude for our human mind
  •   Recognizing the feeling tone contained in any contact with mind and body, and recognizing how feeling tone influences reactivity.
  •   Freeing the mind from habitual cascades of stress and exhaustion through learning to stay with the feeling tone rather than reacting immediately
  •   Seeing when and how the body gears up for action unnecessarily in response to feeling tone, and how to relieve the busyness to allow wise action to emerge
  •   Using mindfulness of feeling tone to help turn towards difficult emotions and concerns
  •   Noticing moments of appreciation in your everyday life and working skillfully with the symptoms of exhaustion (e.g. procrastination)
  •   Sustaining your mindfulness practice, including a template for a year of practice you can use or adapt
