Scientific Planning Committee

The Scientific Planning Committee is a group of family physicians who review the programs we submit for Mainpro+ certification to ensure they adhere to established criteria and policies, and that content is relevant to family physicians. Our Scientific Planning Committee consists of the following three physicians:

Patricia Rockman MD CCFP FCFP

Patricia Rockman is an associate professor with the University of Toronto, department of family and community medicine; cross-appointed to psychiatry. She is a medical psychotherapist focussing on mindfulness-based programs. She also provides mentorship and trains clinicians to deliver MBCT and MBSR. Patricia has been educating healthcare providers in stress reduction, CBT, and mindfulness-based practices for over 20 years. More recently she has become involved in psychedelic-assisted therapy training. She is the co-founder and advisor of Education and Clinical Services at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies and the developer of the MBCT Facilitation Certificate Program. She has co-authored a number of publications in the areas of mindfulness and mental health.

Matthew Westerink MD CCFP GP Psychotherapy

Dr. Westerink works at the South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre as a Family Physician and works with Family Health Teams in providing individual CBT and group MBCT. He has completed certification through the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. He has also completed a Fellowship in Medical Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with CBT Canada.

Jill Bailey MD

Dr. Jill Bailey is a family physician with a practice focused on mental health and addictions. After 14 years of rural general family practice, she now splits her time between the inpatient addiction medicine program at Homewood Health Centre, and providing CBT focused psychotherapy both in the Dufferin area, and virtually for all Ontario residents.

Dr Bailey is a trained MBSR and MBCT facilitator through the Toronto Centre for Mindfulness Studies. Since discovering the enriching benefits of mindfulness in her own life, facilitating mindfulness groups are now the highlight of her week. The group experience always deepens her own mindfulness practice, and she is continuously inspired by her patients.
